The Beginning

der-materialspezialist GmbH was founded in 2010 by Guido Georg Heun, founder and sole shareholder of the company.

At that time, Guido Heun played table tennis in the South Baden Table Tennis Association. With his unorthodox playing style using pimple and anti-spin rubbers, he regularly caused great difficulties for his opponents.

He was also directly affected by several rule changes in table tennis at that time. Replacement products from established manufacturers did not deliver the desired results, so he began researching and developing his own table tennis rubbers.

The Creation of the Brand Name

The name der-materialspezialist originated from an article in a South German newspaper reporting on a table tennis tournament. The headline read:

Since 2014, der-materialspezialist has been a registered and internationally protected trademark.
